we went to Vizcaino for the bike race today ... it was nice and sunny but not too hot, due to a cool breeze all day long.  the way the boys went was long and really steep in places. there were bikes and bodies falling right and left. like i told some of the families, if there is no challenge, then the bikers wont enjoy it.  boring .

well, bocana beach bikers won 3 first places !!!

chueys son won. and i am so pleased about that !!  he didnt show up which was a shame. really a shame.
irmas son won and i am soooooooooooooooo happy about that !!!  she went :)))))) and so did her sister !!

and Cristian won - second time !!!

and the last one was Chino - a little shtunk  of a kid who just tears that road up. he rides his bike with the wind at his back and o a mission to WIN.  they called his dad and he may even buy his son a special bike so that he can get even better results.

Leo had a bad fall right at the beginning. Got the bike put together and sent him on but he must have crashed, the bike got irreparably bent.    i wd really rather not borrow bikes any more.

the one who sould also have gottem first place but someone stuck rocks int he middle of the way and he was in front and got all messed up with the route was Nacho. I am really not sure how this happened.  they did the route yesterday ?????  bizarre and horrible. the worst was that he was disqualified because he threw a hissy fit.  he slammed the helmet on the ground in fornt of everyone and ran to the side in tears.  Not good sportsmanship  altho at the time, none of us understood that he had been somehow set up to lose and crash ... who put rocks along the route ?????????????????????  all the others went around, so they knew how to go .... strange things ahappening .....

well, i got a translation to do at about 6pm - 15 pages - so i worked on that til about 11:30.  finished it !!  fun fun fun and i love the feeling of being DONE. satisfaction

today we heard that Lily's dad died yesterday.  the funeral is this afternoon, so we will be heading to punta abreojos this afternoon at 5. Pancho will be having lunch with us at 3:30. Les made bigos and naother Polish dish. enough food for a lot of people.

there are some grindos in town but we havent met them. i think they must be staying at joaquin's house ??? i saw them drive by going to bocanita yesterday. surfers ?  their vehicles were packed

i sure hope someone helps bring the bikes from ensenada and san diego to bocana. i want punta abreojos to start their team and get riding so they can participate next time.

UPDATE AT 10 pm
 we went to the funeral. a lot of people. they had little kids there, it is great that they see what life and death are about

it is the custom for everyone toput a little bit of sand over the coffin

in PA, they put concrete over the coffin and they m ake the concrete then and there.

Pancho never made it to lunch -  he was in Abreojos in solidarity and gave us a call

we visited Ed in PA for a minute and invited him tolunch. he is going to contact Mark, a friend of his who is building in La Baliza. Mark is coming from Lake Tahoe and may be able to bring a bike

i know the timing was not the best, but after the funeral, i took a moment and asked Martin to bring the bikes from Ensenada on their coop truck and he said yes. I will call Ivan and have him take the bikes tomorrow.

today is a day of rest and relaxation.  Homar and family should arrive soon, i will call them to confirm in a minute

april is the month to click on pepsi for liz's teen emancipation non profit.  i had no idea that is what she did .... it must be brutal to see kids needing to be freed from crazy parent(s). facebook has all the details if you are interested. it is free and it is a great cause.

art from boody decks called last night and he put a special tag on my "thread" so that it stays at the top. so far, not much response from bloody deckers. i guess they are a suspicous crowd ????? what a shame that we live in a world where people are suspicous of those who are doing good. i get nothing out of any of these projects except happiness that I am able to make an iota of difference in this world. those kids winning first place on Sunday, and getting major attention for that "5 min of fame" was precious.  i guarantee you, they will never ever ever forget that moment for the rest of their lives.

weeks of planning and the day is here ... it was bike race day !!  Yesterday in the late afternoon, Homar and all his club kids and family memebers showed up !!  I offered the Copa Cabana since they were planning on camping. They had air matteresses and blankets and were good to go !!  They liked it so much that they want to come back and spend 2 days vacationing - Tues and Wed :))

SIX la bocana kids won first place including Armando's kid. Armando was worried about letting him go but in the end he did ... Armando said he prayed and talked to God about it during mass.  And God said, let him be a kid and race even tho he had open heart surgery 2 months ago. Well, he won !!!  But he forgot to call his dad so he could be there when he got his reconocimento and bag of candy.

I cleaned as the day went on and I must say, at the end of the day - there was not ONE piece of  trash ont he ground...to be honest...the cancha or  town swaure was dirtier when we got there than when we left.

Int he end - everyone everyone everyone had a wonderful time. For the kids, it is a huge honor to win. They runt hat race as if their life depended on it. too bad we lose that "ganas" as we grow older. If we faced our marriages and work with the same ganas ... I personally think we would all be much happier and the world would be a much better place.

Their were about 3 people who had serious leg muscle cramps .... scary to see...the biker goes straight down onto the ground and writhes in agony. Horrible to watch.  We have to concentrate on warming up - I think I have to become more educated on sports preparation.

Our team did well. Chuey came and presented the diplomas and candy. Delegado was 2nd and Yolie gave 3rd place awards. All good :)

Les had a gut feeling from the getgo. Don't even remember how we got this person's name, but I certainly wish we had never met him or given him our money !!!

today i posted for donations of surfboards, skateboards, bikes and helmets on bloody decks...i am kinda scared of the reaction . they are a much rowdier crowd.  they are heavy duty fishermen. not sure what the response will be ...but you cannot lose can ya ?  and i have to try every avenue.  i want to be ready for the surf contest next january. last year's contest was wonderful.  the contest was fantastic.

now,. wrote to Lou Razo and they are coming down this weekend.  April 17 is their bazaar sale and he says, dare i believe it, that i can have their leftovers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yeah !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHAZAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

big sigh of relief. that will be stupendous and will help a lot. If durangotang (baja nomad) can ship his helmets to arrrive by Friday, then Lou can bring them for Sunday.  Imagine if they arrive for the bike race !!!  ahhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa  they just might !!

the delegado called the delgada in Punta Abreojos to request the ambulance for the race. what a miracle. this is the very first time he has done anything at all to help me in any way. i am having Nacho call and ask for the diesel to fill it up. all good. all good.  well...the president of the coop and I talked. he could not understand why i want them to fillup the gas tank in the ambulance:  here is the explanation
1. if we dont use the gas, it goes right back to his town
2. i want kids form punta abreojos to be able to get bikes as well
3. it would be nice to end the rivalry between the two towns - it is  unnecessary and beyond ridiculous

exciting news ... a police guy stopped by on Thurs and he wanted to suggest we get an ambulance for Bocana. I told him that I intedn to get us a complete laba nd clinic with EKG equipment and x-ray machines and the whole bit.  I also mentioned that I need a lot to put the bldg on and that if he wanted to help, he should talk to Nelo - head of the ejido. 

Well, he did that and yesterday he informed me that Nelo will indeed give us a big plot of land.  And that the cost of setting up an association was about 10,500 pesos.  a lot but certainly doable.  The kid was pleased with himself and well he should be !!! 

Dr Romero and I had talked about visiting the clinic built in San Ignacio - and maybe that wil happen tomorrow.

Nacho stopped byand we set him up on facebook. And he sent me pics so now  can make a webpage for the group.

Clicerio wrote and said the governor will be in Bahia Tortugas for the premiacion but there are no hotels available and we can't go. Must be for a reason that there are no hotels available.  The governor and I will meet somehow and somewhere when it is right timing.

the new house is really coming along fast - Les removed the old door to one of the bedrooms so we can increase the size of the bathroom so as to fit a sink (original idea was to have 2 sinks in each bedroom, which I HATED) ... then he put the sink and toilet in place (not bolted but places) and one of the new tiles Bruce just put in chipped on the edge .. there's a redo ... The bathroom will also house the fish designer tiles we originally bought for upstairs at our house and then decided to do dolphins instead. The tiles are gorgeous. The bathroom will be stunning.

There is a lot of sand flying by that house - Les says it is due to the road and the fact that all Mexicans remove all the plants even from empty lots. They hate the plants. So bizarre since these desert plants will NOT let sand fly and will NOT let trash go by them either.

The bikers were supposed to be here at 5. Last minute meeting and obviously manana is the word of the day !!  I want to meet with them and see how we can have San Diego help us with prizes ...as always ... exciting times for La Bocana :))))  Here they come - half an hour late is not really late ...is it ??????????????
