TGIF May 28,2010

TGIF ... and tomorrow we leave for asuncion with the bike club. everyone waits til the last minute to commit to taking the kids. what a nightmare.  I dont think I weill ever be  abel to enjoy this particular mexican trait.... i am so used to being organized weeks beforehand, who will go and with whom. this last minute stuff is very stressful and not FUN

ok. having that off my chest, lets move on !!  it is great that 3 new kids have joined the club. it is a challenge to find them moeny for uniforms, but i ams ure the money will show up today !!

i packed for asuncion this morning. i am happy to be meeting Shari. she said there is also a guy who is studying desert plants. very interesting. mike the pilot is bringing a guy who wants a tour of asuncion. i want to go on it too !!

i taught the docs and nun and nurse this morning at the seguro and asked them to come up with 550 for the uniform !! they need to do it .. they will do it .... please please please. i also wrote to UCSD and Allen. we need 4 more uniforms, I am asking them for 3 more donations. Now that i think about it, maybe Lynn and her girls can help with the 4th ??? i will ask .... apparently there is a little girl who also wants to join.  we could use more girls !!  Biek club problem :  Israel ruined one of the bike wheels, how do i deal with this ?????  i cant imagine it was done on purpose, but really, more care should have been taken. it is not OK. how can we replace a whole wheel spokes and all ?????  we cant. and it is one of the big beautiful bikes.  sad ...i am really sad about it.  Good news is, all the new teens really came through with the raffle for taco sale !!  15 tacos for 20 peso raffle !!! Each kid was responsible for selling 5 tickets !!  good for them to do something to contribute. we also got the OK to do a pollo sale at the high school  this will bring in some real cash !!!  we need to pay a lot of money for registering the boys ..... and for gas ...... and for food ... it all adds up when you have HUNGRY teens !!!  So today I am making 3 cakes. a huge pot of chili, appplesauce to take to asuncion. i also bought sandwich makings. limes to make lemonade. and i am taking alll the disposable plates, forks, knives, knapkins, bowls .. and this is what i will ask our visitors to bring from now on !!!!  good idea Blanca !!!!    that can be their contribution to our clubs .... not expensive and doesnt take a lot of room.  BINGO.

i got some great news. Clicerio who works for the governor contacted someone who will do the study for the landfill. well, let me back up a sec. he sent me the budget for doing it.  over 10,000 dollars !!!  so, i wrote back and thanked the biologist (he did a comprehensive list of what it entails) and asked him about gvt programs to cover costs. he was on his way to take a trip somewhere but told me that he would be happy to help out finding moeny. is that the coolest or what ?????????????????

there is a coyote who visits our neck of the woods during the day. i thought it might be starving or looking for water since he comes so close. les thinks he has found out that there are fish tidbits undere the osprey nest and that is what he is going for .... could very well be

this week i have walked every day since we got back from chihuahua.  i have cleaned the beach. it is much much better but unbelievably so, i find empty soda bottles every day.  i also will be calling the coop next weke to see if they cant pick up their old lobster traps.  they are rusting away on the beach.  looks kinda ugly.

juanchy and joaquin stopped by yesterday.  we hadnt seen joaquin in a while and i complained to juanchy who stops by every day ...  joaquin is busy building a wall around  his property.  says he wants more security.  i hate walls. myself, but i think that he has so much stuff that belongs to others which he is responsible for...a wall might be a good idea for him ...

juanchy is looking for an aluminum boat.  he asked me to contact gary to see if he is interested, which i did thru Bruce. gary is NOT interested in selling his but might be able to bring one down for juanchy.   juanchy is making our sign on chueys wall. it is very nice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
