Hi all....what a day

at 7:30 this morning we all met at the main square in the center of town. The delegado - sherriff - got some people to clean up - paid - and they are sweeping sand.  Such a waste of time and money...... we live in a desert. There will NEVER be an end to the sand.  Once a week, maybe someone could clean it but to pay 15 people to sweep sand now, waste of time and money Whatever.....

Then I got the garbage guys to go and clean up some major trash sites.  Abandoned outhouses and one huge bin of trash had Dr Romero's old trash in side - he hasn't lived there for 4 years !!  The mice....and I assume they were mice....were scampering everywhere. Oh what a fun  morning.    There were 5 of us and we spent 2.5 hours having just a blast !!  But it looks so much better. And  tomorrow we continue.

So, this time I hear there is no gas. So, we call the sheriff - who has been out of town for days now - and I tell him that we cleaned today and that there is another day of cleaning ahead.  I say that I will pay the guys 100 pesos for cleaning if he puts in 300 towards gas.  After hemming and hawing for almost an hour, he finally agrees. I am pissed is putting it lightly. He is such a strange guy. Wants support but is not supportive. But I got the money - and I got someone to go 10 miles to P Abreojos and pick up diesel since La Bocana is out of it.  Did I already mention that we live inthe wild, wild west ????

And tomorrow we meet at 7.  I have a group of guys coming at 8 - one of the abandoned fridges is really huge and heavy.  The rest should be a piece of cake.  The deal is the guys must do this extra work but also do all the regular pickup. They are eager to get cash - they make the most ridiculously small salary that I have ever heard of. Wish I could just double it - can someone give me fairy powers for just a day ?????

Then I taught the kids from Punta Abreojos who have an hour break before their bus leaves.  We ran kinda late and the bus was honking already outside. ooooops. but I had to give them extra  verbs to memorize since I will be gone all of next week.  This pic is actually of the little ones I teach at 2 three times a week.

Now I hear the governor is coming on Fridayy the 20th and I will not be here. This situation has to be changed and I am actually going to ask the guy who works with him (tournament organizer) to ask him to come another week but not next week. I have to meet this guy.  I really need his help.  I need the bulldozer !!!!!

Anyone in San Diego - I need gloves and overalls - heavy duty on both -  for the garbage guys. One is medium and one is large.  probably 2 overalls each ...any takers ???  Who  has an inside to overall companies ????

Am on my way in a few minutes to meet with the engineer architect who will make the new bathroom for the library !!  Time to run !!

This is the million dollar check given me by the organizer of the fishing tournament ....for a minute, I swear I thought he was giving me a real check ...then I saw too many zeros, but miracles happen every day !!!

Well - today I got a great email from Enrique - the computer guy already looked at the computers and will have to spend 3 hours fixing them but the router is OK. Saved $30 dollars for them.  Chuy, one of the bigwigs, will return tomorrow and hire the new garbage guy.  The architect will work with him as well with the estimate for all that is needed for a tiny corner bathroom in the libray. The bigwigs have a meeting with the biosphere envirnmental protection agency ont he 19th and the guy is willing to work it out with them, he said.  I said - just show him the dump pics and he will not open his mouth to argue any point.
